Jessica Stockholder: First Cousin Once Removed or Cinema Of Brushing Skin

Jessica Stockholder is recognized internationally for her contribution to the history of abstract art. This catalogue accompanied Stockholder’s 2001 installation, First Cousin Once Removed or Cinema of Brushing Skin, at The Power Plant, June 26–September 6, 1999. It includes a critical essay by curator Marc Mayer that connects Stockholder's art historical references to her deliberate erasure of the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and architecture. The catalogue also contains an interview with the artist and an artist's statement, as well as a history and bibliography of Stockholder's installations.
