Glenn Kaino
This catalogue features full-color illustrations of works by the artist.
Glenn Kaino (b. 1972, USA) is a conceptual artist renowned for artworks that engage viewers in critical conversations about the contemporary human condition. Much of Kaino’s inspiration comes from his childhood in Los Angeles, where he experienced bigotry due to his Japanese heritage, and felt pressure from the opposing worlds of school and gangs. Those experiences drive him to make work that addresses issues of race, territory, violence, illusion, expectations, and the balances of power that operate within social structures. His omni-disciplinary oeuvre engages any techniques, processes, materials, environments, or collaborators necessary to manifest the concept at hand.
